一、引言
圖表作文是四、六級(jí)及研究生考試作文的一種考察形式。相比其它的命題形式,圖表作文相對(duì)高級(jí)復(fù)雜,這也是圖表作文較多出現(xiàn)在六級(jí)及研究生考試中的原因之一,而最近十年的四級(jí)考試中也曾出現(xiàn)過(guò)一次圖表作文(2002年6月四級(jí)考試)。平時(shí)的作文練習(xí)要未雨綢繆,不可忽視圖表作文的重要性。
圖表作文要求考生根據(jù)命題要求,仔細(xì)研讀圖表,將說(shuō)明主題的圖表信息轉(zhuǎn)換為文字,準(zhǔn)確、完整地表達(dá)出來(lái)。圖表類(lèi)型較多,主要有以下四種形式:表格(Table)、柱形圖(Bar Graph)、扇形圖(Pie Graph)和曲線圖(Line Graph)。無(wú)論圖表是以哪種形式出現(xiàn),大學(xué)英語(yǔ)相關(guān)測(cè)試遇到的圖表作文通常都要求考生描述圖表,分析原因,得出結(jié)論??v觀學(xué)生圖表作文練習(xí)的各個(gè)部分,發(fā)現(xiàn)圖表描述部分最為困擾學(xué)生,出現(xiàn)的問(wèn)題較多。要切實(shí)提高學(xué)生圖表作文寫(xiě)作水平,就必須分析學(xué)生在圖表描述部分的問(wèn)題,找到有效的解決方案。
二、圖表描述的問(wèn)題
下文以學(xué)生練習(xí)中的三個(gè)圖表作文為實(shí)例,對(duì)其圖表描述部分進(jìn)行分析,指出學(xué)生在圖表描述中所出現(xiàn)的問(wèn)題。
1. 沒(méi)有仔細(xì)審題讀圖
學(xué)生把圖表作文的仔細(xì)看圖準(zhǔn)確描述過(guò)程轉(zhuǎn)化為粗略看圖大致描述。在這轉(zhuǎn)化了的過(guò)程中,學(xué)生把看圖簡(jiǎn)化了,浮光掠影地掃幾眼,并沒(méi)有按照題目要求對(duì)數(shù)據(jù)進(jìn)行仔細(xì)的分析比較,想當(dāng)然地認(rèn)為理解了圖表所要傳達(dá)的信息,因而沒(méi)有準(zhǔn)確完整地用文字把主題所要說(shuō)明的問(wèn)題解釋清楚。如學(xué)生對(duì)圖表1的描述部分:

2. 直接講述分析后的結(jié)論,沒(méi)引用能夠充分說(shuō)明主題的關(guān)鍵數(shù)據(jù)
圖表式作文通常分為三部分:第一部分圖表描述,描述圖表所反映的某一現(xiàn)象。第二部分原因解釋。仔細(xì)分析和比較圖表數(shù)據(jù),闡述導(dǎo)致上述現(xiàn)象原因。第三部分為結(jié)論。許多學(xué)生不了解圖表作文的要求,認(rèn)為圖表只是起對(duì)主題進(jìn)行補(bǔ)充提示的作用,圖表無(wú)非是讓他們更為了解主題,描述或不描述都無(wú)關(guān)緊要,或者直接進(jìn)入原因解釋部分更能切入主題。如作文二的第一部分――根據(jù)圖表描述不同國(guó)家和地區(qū)在北京的投資狀況。

分析:作文要求學(xué)生仔細(xì)察看餅圖(圖2),然后再描述現(xiàn)象。學(xué)生只是分析了圖表,講述了許多外國(guó)投資者來(lái)北京投資的分析結(jié)果,并沒(méi)有把圖表的信息寫(xiě)進(jìn)文章中,如Hong Kong,Japan,U.S.A,other countries分別占投資總額的44%,19.2%,16%,21.8%,。這樣的文章偏離了圖表作文的要求,體現(xiàn)不出圖表在圖表作文中的重要性。
3. 分析,歸納數(shù)據(jù)的能力欠佳
描述數(shù)據(jù)我們要首先看看是幾個(gè)變量(A),每個(gè)變量有幾個(gè)數(shù)據(jù)(B),不妨以A*B表示。如果遇到多變量、每個(gè)變量多數(shù)據(jù)的圖表,學(xué)生就會(huì)茫然不知所措,往往導(dǎo)致以下的錯(cuò)誤。
3.1 喧賓奪主,沒(méi)有抓到主要的數(shù)據(jù)
雖然學(xué)生在作文中已經(jīng)引用數(shù)據(jù),可是沒(méi)有分析數(shù)據(jù)的增減規(guī)律,描述數(shù)據(jù)的變化趨勢(shì)。如圖表2只有一個(gè)變量(在北京的投資額),且賦予變量的數(shù)值不多(4個(gè)),學(xué)生并不會(huì)犯此類(lèi)錯(cuò)誤。在圖3的描述部分,學(xué)生發(fā)現(xiàn)數(shù)據(jù)過(guò)多,加上要求寫(xiě)作練習(xí)的時(shí)間有限,從圖表中挑上一兩個(gè)數(shù)據(jù),匆匆忙忙描述一番就跳到第二部分――分析上海家庭支出的變化原因。

圖3圖表告訴我們上海居民在衣食方面(Food&Clothing)的開(kāi)支正逐年減少,卻增加在娛樂(lè)(Recreation)、教育(Education)、醫(yī)療(Health Care)和其他(others)方面的支出。該學(xué)生并沒(méi)有挑出體現(xiàn)變化的數(shù)據(jù),錯(cuò)誤傳達(dá)了圖表真正要傳達(dá)的信息。雖然這樣的錯(cuò)誤在作文中極為少見(jiàn),但不可不引起我們的注意。
3.2 “面面俱到”
這是圖表作文中學(xué)生最常犯的錯(cuò)誤。圖表傳達(dá)的是某一現(xiàn)象的變化發(fā)展,切忌漫無(wú)主題的引用所有的數(shù)據(jù)。下圖3,總共有五個(gè)變量Food&Clothing,Recreation,Education,Health Care,Others,和15個(gè)數(shù)值,如果全部羅列出來(lái),反而雜亂無(wú)章,讓人眼花繚亂,不知所云,往往得分較低。描述圖表時(shí)要挑選那些最典型,最能反映問(wèn)題的數(shù)據(jù),面面俱到反而沒(méi)有重點(diǎn)。
4.缺乏圖表描述的語(yǔ)言技能
在圖表描述時(shí),有些學(xué)生不會(huì)用英文表示不同的圖表,不管是哪種圖表,統(tǒng)統(tǒng)使用table。漢語(yǔ)的“圖表”在英文中有diagram,chart,graph,table等相對(duì)應(yīng)的詞。Table意思是“表或表格”,如下圖3,因此如漢語(yǔ)中的“餅圖”不能用table來(lái)表示。在描述圖表時(shí),要認(rèn)清圖表的類(lèi)型才能下筆。
另外圖表的描述有一些固定句型和表達(dá)法,例如表示數(shù)據(jù)增長(zhǎng),數(shù)據(jù)減少等表達(dá)方法。有些學(xué)生由于平時(shí)沒(méi)有積累這方面的知識(shí),在寫(xiě)作中常常使用單一的句型、非常有限甚至是重復(fù)的單詞對(duì)圖表進(jìn)行描述,只奢求達(dá)到字?jǐn)?shù)要求。請(qǐng)看下面對(duì)圖3的描述:

該部分完全是由一種句型“sth. is...”簡(jiǎn)單乏味地重復(fù)累加構(gòu)成。除非是為了加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣,強(qiáng)調(diào)某一內(nèi)容,寫(xiě)作應(yīng)盡量避免相同句型和單詞的堆砌,力求使詞句的多樣化。
三、啟示和對(duì)策
由于圖表作文涉及的題材較多,是多種題材的結(jié)合體,另外圖表類(lèi)型多樣化,此類(lèi)作文無(wú)疑難度較大。加上相對(duì)其他作文命題形式而言圖表作文出現(xiàn)次數(shù)不多,學(xué)生在心理上容易忽視圖表作文,一旦遇到圖表作文,很難寫(xiě)出切題、流暢連貫,符合考試寫(xiě)作要求的高質(zhì)量文章。因此我們通過(guò)分析學(xué)生圖表作文存在的問(wèn)題,在以后的圖表寫(xiě)作教學(xué)中采取針對(duì)性的策略,及時(shí)有效地糾正錯(cuò)誤,解決問(wèn)題。
首先加強(qiáng)練習(xí),增加練習(xí)的次數(shù)。提高作文水平非一日之功,要多看多寫(xiě),反復(fù)操練,由淺入深,解決部分,進(jìn)而改善整體,在圖表作文中首先要加強(qiáng)圖表描述的能力。平時(shí)的寫(xiě)作練習(xí)不能專(zhuān)門(mén)訓(xùn)練某種命題類(lèi)型,要安排一定的時(shí)間進(jìn)行圖表作文訓(xùn)練。圖表作文要涵蓋:表格(Table)、柱形圖(Bar Graph)、扇形圖(Pie Graph)和曲線圖(Line Graph)這些常考的圖表類(lèi)型,才能遇“試”不亂。
其次是要記一些常用的表達(dá)方式。古往今來(lái)人們都肯定了背誦在提高寫(xiě)作水平中的作用。寫(xiě)作本身無(wú)規(guī)律可循,但圖表作文命題卻是有一定方向的,具體到描述部分無(wú)非是描述出圖表反映的某一情況,引用能充分說(shuō)明主題的典型數(shù)據(jù),這些數(shù)據(jù)通常呈或增或減的變化。背誦大量圖表描述的單詞、句型,熟練運(yùn)用地道的詞句,能夠有效解決圖表描述的語(yǔ)言問(wèn)題。
另外,教師要積極引導(dǎo)學(xué)生糾正錯(cuò)誤,正確對(duì)待錯(cuò)誤。寫(xiě)作是復(fù)雜的創(chuàng)造性活動(dòng),練習(xí)中出現(xiàn)錯(cuò)誤是不可避免的,但也不能對(duì)錯(cuò)誤聽(tīng)之任之,要發(fā)現(xiàn)錯(cuò)誤改正錯(cuò)誤。提高圖表描述的能力,關(guān)鍵要發(fā)現(xiàn)圖表描述的問(wèn)題,才能進(jìn)行積極有效的改進(jìn)。教師可采用對(duì)比教學(xué)的方法,對(duì)批改過(guò)的作文和范文進(jìn)行比較,加深學(xué)生對(duì)錯(cuò)誤的認(rèn)識(shí),吸取地道的表達(dá)方法,開(kāi)闊思路。同時(shí)圖表描述的語(yǔ)言錯(cuò)誤,通常也會(huì)在其他類(lèi)型的作文中出現(xiàn),諸如語(yǔ)法、用詞、搭配等方面的錯(cuò)誤,因此糾正圖表描述的語(yǔ)言對(duì)于提高寫(xiě)作水平有極大的幫助。
四、結(jié)論
圖表描述方面出現(xiàn)的問(wèn)題,反映了學(xué)生所持的寫(xiě)作態(tài)度和語(yǔ)言表達(dá)能力。持急功近利,敷衍了事的寫(xiě)作態(tài)度注定不能提高寫(xiě)作水平,教師再如何批改,也無(wú)濟(jì)于事;同時(shí)光有端正的態(tài)度,但遣詞造句能力差,言不及義的也不妥。因此在寫(xiě)作教學(xué)中,如何洞察學(xué)生的寫(xiě)作動(dòng)機(jī),激發(fā)學(xué)生的習(xí)作熱情,端正學(xué)生的寫(xiě)作態(tài)度和切實(shí)提高英文表達(dá)能力,需要大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教師不斷實(shí)踐和探索。

已經(jīng)不知道痛徹心扉了多少次,已經(jīng)不知道整顆心都變得麻木了,不知道自己臉色是多么的蒼白,不知道傷痕又多加了多少道,不知道內(nèi)心的恐懼占據(jù)了身體的百分之幾,更不知道自己的眼淚流了多少次……我什么都不知道不知道.
沒(méi)有人會(huì)了解到我的痛苦,沒(méi)有人,多少次我在痛苦邊緣掙扎,沒(méi)有人知道.同學(xué)說(shuō)在我們幾個(gè)之間我很幸福,起碼我沒(méi)經(jīng)歷過(guò)永生難忘的事情,他不知道,我的痛苦有多深,深到把自己是誰(shuí)都忘記了,世界上最了解自己的人是誰(shuí)?那個(gè)人絕對(duì)不會(huì)是我,因?yàn)檫B我都不知道自己是誰(shuí).我很愛(ài)哭,往往看到感動(dòng)人的動(dòng)畫(huà)或電視劇,我就會(huì)哭得淅瀝嘩啦,我很脆弱,別人隨便一句不經(jīng)意說(shuō)出的話都能抓住我內(nèi)心的痛處,很沒(méi)用對(duì)不對(duì)?有時(shí)候覺(jué)得自己好傻,簡(jiǎn)直是個(gè)笨蛋.笨蛋活在世上有何用?這沒(méi)人知道,就算有人知道,也只是給予表面上的安慰罷了.
我曾是一個(gè)非常非常內(nèi)向文靜的人,或許現(xiàn)在還是吧.我害怕,對(duì)每個(gè)人都會(huì)在所難免有恐懼感,似乎每個(gè)人都帶了面具,生怕哪一天面具摘下來(lái)會(huì)讓我失望.我是個(gè)很沒(méi)用的人,被人盯著看時(shí)會(huì)有種厭惡感,好討厭的感覺(jué).可是,由于我的懦弱和膽小,我沒(méi)有理會(huì)那個(gè)人的張望.
對(duì)于生活我漸漸失去了信心,天使已經(jīng)失去了那雙屬于她的翅膀,那是因?yàn)樯系鄣牟粦z惜.我是這么想的,我就是這樣,渺小得上帝看也不會(huì)看一眼,更別說(shuō)憐惜了.我連一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)唯一渴望得到的憐惜都沒(méi)有得到.我做錯(cuò)了什么?我不知道,我知道我心中的傷痕會(huì)越來(lái)越深,最后連當(dāng)天使的資格都會(huì)失去.很多人喜歡叫我"夢(mèng)幻",夢(mèng)幻,那是我以前很喜歡的名字.可是現(xiàn)在,不喜歡了,因?yàn)槟遣贿m合我,所以我叫自己"傷零憶寒",這才是真正的我.
魚(yú)的眼淚,水會(huì)知道嗎?上帝并不憐惜我,失去翅膀的黑天使也只能每天看著一群玩耍得快樂(lè)的白天使獨(dú)自悲傷,沒(méi)有朋友,沒(méi)有愛(ài),沒(méi)有關(guān)懷,所以我叫"遺落",我認(rèn)為那是很美的名字.之后我稱(chēng)為"結(jié)束".好多人以為我快樂(lè),可我的文章全是憂郁得破碎迷離,好多人,好多事,讓我覺(jué)得傷心難過(guò),我想堅(jiān)強(qiáng),可那不可能做到.或許,雙魚(yú)座的,注定天生是最?lèi)?ài)哭最懦弱的人.我并不討厭雙魚(yú),相反很喜歡,因?yàn)殡p魚(yú)上所有性格都跟我一樣.我是適合它的.何必去改變它呢?

Suzhou garden, is a good place! It not is not a book that garden around the specimen,if you go to, so, you will find it architecture don't like ancient chase symmetry style. As the book said"it is not technology but art."
Suzhou garden is a rare among in our country. Its building perfect show the level of architectural culture in ancient China.If you walk around in it you will find in the garden there will be a casual corner there is a design,a variety of plants, subtle micro become warped.
Here potted and bamboo forests, planting place is on high ground, when after the rain the whole garden, will all the fog filled, as if into the wonderland.
Suzhou gardens, if there is an opportunity, must go in and see!

In the contemporary world, with the continuous progress of society, an increasing number of people/students/youngster(某個(gè)群體) are confronted with different choice. Some of them prefer to 選擇1; however, the others are more content to 選擇2,which has aroused wide concerns.
As the saying goes, there are one thousand Hamlet in one thousand readers’ eyes. Consequently, perhaps different people have different choice. When it comes to my choice, I will not be reluctant to choose to 你的選擇. There are two reasons for my choice. On one hand, not only is你的選擇 beneficial to my own development, but also plays an indispensable role in my future life. On the other hand, it is general acknowledged that 你的選擇 is a better way to enrich our life experience. The success of Jack Ma can largely explain the importance of 主題, without which he wouldn’t achieve such great social accomplishment today.
In summary, I will give first priority to 你的選擇. As rational individuals, we need to attach great importance to our own decision/this issue. I am convinced only when we主題詞(do sth.) can we have a brighter future.

Health is the most important. But we always lose health for such and such reason so how do we keep healthy? Here are a few of my Suggestions.
First of all early to bed and early to rise. Only to have enough sleep we have energy. Otherwise whatever we do we all have no energy. Secondly we need not picky about food. Fruits vegetables should eat. Finally should exercise more. This will let us have a healthy body.
May do all of these for some people it is very difficult but we have to do it.
I believe that someday we will be healthy.
